Data under the hood…

Those who know Lotus Domino well, will likely have a copy of NotesPeek installed on their desktop.

NotesPeek was written for technical Lotus Notes/Domino® administrators who want to see a more raw view of their Notes databases than the Lotus Notes® client provides.

It allows you an explorer style hierarchical top down view of all your Notes data from server to Database to document to field & content. It still follows the  security model too. It’s still working with 8.5.3, albeit Lotus ceased development during Notes / Domino 6 days, and it only allows you to read content. It does, however, reveal information quickly that you would need to delve for in the client, or worse still write a script!

So as I get more involved in Exchange issues, its great to come across similar tools…

PFDAVAdmin, connects to your Exchange servers allowing you to administer and edit all objects top down.. Again it follows the security structure.

Exchange Server Public Folder Distributed Authoring and Versioning (DAV)-based Administration tool (PFDAVAdmin) to perform various management tasks related to public folders and mailboxes.

We recently had need to correct a fault with a few mailbox folders for some users, this was invaluable to quickly complete this.

Domino & Exchange Continue to be more similar than people think !!
